A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a non profit organization that’s goal is to maintain community ownership and stewardship of land. It’s focus is to acquire land within a distinct geographic area to bring it into the hands of the community.
Although not exclusive to housing, a CLT often utilizes this land to provide affordable housing to community members in need. Anti-displacement, social justice, and community well-being are at the core of a CLT’s principles.
